New Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro smartphones: features and price

Elizabeth Smith

News at Xiaomi. The popular Chinese manufacturer unveiled its latest top-of-the-range models for 2022, at the tail end of Apple. The Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro, which promise an outstanding user experience.

While the design remains faithful to the previous models, the real change lies in the interior. Particularly, in terms of the camera and processor. In this article, we’ll discuss the features and price of the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro.

Xiaomi 12T: technical specifications

The Xiaomi 12T has a respectable spec sheet, considering that it is the little brother of its pro version. On the 12-bit display, almost nothing to complain about, except perhaps the slightly high minimum adaptive frequency of 30Hz and the somewhat disappointing brightness.

This smartphone has an integrated fingerprint reader, protected by Gorilla Glass 5, but only on the front: the back is made of matt glass.

The eight-core MediaTek processor is, however, the flagship of this smartphone: it guarantees smoothness and a very low probability of lag.

Coming to the main course, let’s turn to the camera: a 108MP sensor that is not afraid of the toughest light conditions, with a slightly lesser wide-angle lens and a third macro camera that doesn’t really have all that much use – 2MP – but is quite impressive.

  • Rear camera:

Main: 108 megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM6, 1/1.67-inch sensor, 1.92 μm 9-in-1 pixel size, f/1.7, FOV 83.6°, OIS
Wide angle: 8 megapixels, FOV 120°, 1/4” sensor, 1.12 μm pixel size, f/2.2
Macro: 2 megapixels, 1/5-inch sensor, 1.75 μm pixel size, f/2.4

  • Front camera: 20 megapixels, 1/3.47” sensor, 0.8 μm pixel size, f/2.24, FOV 78°

The audio compartment consists of two stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

As far as charging speed is concerned, the Xiaomi 12T beats many records thanks to the very fast HyperCharge, which will allow it to ‘fill up’ in 19 minutes with an autonomy of 13.5 hours with light use.

Sore note, updates and security patches, guaranteed for 3 and 4 years respectively. It could have been worse, but also much better.

Xiaomi 12T Pro: technical specifications

Let’s move on to the main course: if the Xiaomi 12T is already a great phone, the 12T Pro is set to impress.

The display features seem to be more or less the same, but it seems that Dolby Vision, Adaptive HDR and adaptive reading mode compatibility will be added here.

The processor here will be Qualcomm, a guarantee of extreme quality, again with eight cores.

But it is on the camera that the Xiaomi 12T Pro clearly beats the competition: with its 200MP and support for 8K and HDR10+ video recording, 2x in-sensor zoom and various focus modes, including Motion tracking focus, Motion capture and Eye, the 12T Pro draws a clear line with its base model.

  • Rear camera:

Main: 200 megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP1, 1/1.22-inch sensor, pixel size 0.64 μm, 1.28 μm 4-in-1, 2.56 μm 16-in-1 super, f/1.69, FOV 85°, OIS
Wide angle: 8 megapixels, FOV 120°, 1/4” sensor, 1.12 μm pixel size, f/2.2
Macro: 2 megapixels, 1/5-inch sensor, 1.75 μm pixel size, f/2.4

  • Front camera: 20 megapixels, 1/3.47” sensor, 0.8 μm pixel size, f/2.24, FOV 78°

Also new here is RAM, which will go up to 12GB.

Price of Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro

Xiaomi’s 12T models are available in Cosmic Black, Clear Blue and Lunar Silver colours.

As far as the price is concerned, the 12T model starts at €599.9 in its 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM version, while the 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM version comes in at €649.9.

In the case of the Xiaomi 12T Pro, the price is €849.9 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM version, and €899.9 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM version.
