At least 34,600 people have died and 77,900 have been injured in the Gaza Strip since October 7th. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave which in 2007 came under the control of Hamas and which since 7 October has been targeted by Israeli military operations following the attack in Israel.

In Gaza over 10 thousand women killed since the start of the war

Over 10,000 women have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the war began on 7 October. “Seven months into the war, 10,000 Palestinian women in Gaza have been killed, including around 6,000 mothers, leaving 19,000 children orphaned,” reads the latest report from the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and women’s empowerment (Un Women).

The report also states that “more than one million women and girls in the Gaza Strip have almost no food, no access to drinking water, latrines, toilets or sanitary pads, with diseases spreading in inhumane living conditions.”

Additionally, a child is killed or injured every 10 minutes in the Strip. This is what Tess Ingram, Communications Specialist at Unicef, declared after returning from a two-week visit to the Palestinian enclave.

Gaza: never so many deaths among children and minors

More children have died in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 than have died in wars around the world in the last four years. This was stated by the Commissioner General of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini.

In fact, over 12,000 children have been killed in wars around the world in the last four years, between 2019 and 2023, and 12,300 have been killed in Gaza in almost four months of conflict with Hamas, from 7 October to 29 February, according to data provided by the United Nations and the Gaza Ministry of Health.
