COP16 on biodiversity 2024

During the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity (COP15), which took place in December 2022 in Montreal, the global framework for biodiversity was agreed with the Global Biodiversity Framework.

Among the main objectives defined is that of conserving and effectively managing at least 30% of the world’s emerged lands, inland waters, coastal areas and oceans by 2030.

In this sense we can recognize some progress in the implementation of the agreement, which will be discussed during the COP16 on biodiversity, which will be held in Colombia from 21 October to 1 November 2024.

During COP16, the adhering countries will present the results obtained in the implementation of the agreement. But also the action plans and the national biodiversity strategies they intend to implement in the near future.

COP29: the 2024 climate conference

The last, but not least, event not to be missed in 2024 is COP29, or the United Nations conference on combating climate change (UNFCCC COP29).

COP29 will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 24 November 2024. It is the most important political event this year in the climate and environmental field. Thus an important opportunity for meetings and negotiations between Heads of State, personalities academia, industry leaders, government officials and organizations.
