In the land of FIAT and Olivetti, where Italian industry has given rise to excellence that has set the standard worldwide, a small company is rapidly making its mark among the major national players in thermotechnology, with a vision that combines tradition and future, care for the local area and the enhancement of human resources. Hitherm is a company based in the Canavese area, founded in 2012 by Sergio Orso and Massimo Truffa. In a short time, the company has established itself as one of the most dynamic and innovative companies in the field of pressfitting, a technology that allows pipes and fittings to be joined by cold pressing, ensuring a reliable and resistant seal without the need for welding. The complementary experience of the founders was crucial to the success of the company: Sergio Orso, with a solid background in the commercial sector and extensive experience in the world of pressfitting since the 1980’s , brought expertise and a consolidated network of commercial relationships to the company, while Massimo Truffa, an engineer with a strong entrepreneurial bent, contributed to the organisation and operational efficiency of Hitherm.

“In the highly competitive and crisis-hit thermotechnical sector, we at Hitherm immediately sought to distinguish ourselves through a strongly innovation-oriented approach, the acquisition of patents and certifications, and the implementation of an agile and widespread service throughout the country”, says Orso. “In addition, the rising of costs and the increasing difficulty in finding skilled workers have contributed to the growth of Hitherm’s pressfitting system, known for its many advantages such as speed and ease of installation, which reduce time and labour costs. Expansion has also been favoured by the company’s philosophy focused on training and information, with constant attention to customer needs”.

Having established itself on the Italian market, Hitherm has expanded its reach to the European market and, for about two years now, has also been increasingly successful on the African market, with a headquarters in Algeria and business lines in Tunisia, Morocco and Senegal, where it is a pioneer in the spread of the pressfitting system. “It’s incredible to think about the giant strides that have been made in recent years”, explains the manager. “We started out as a purely commercial company based in Settimo Torinese, and then almost immediately expanded our business to include the direct production of pressfitting components. This significant change coincided with the move to the beautiful setting of Agliè, recently awarded with the title of second most beautiful village in Italy, where the company has already converted an old disused industrial warehouse, thus contributing to the redevelopment of an economically depressed area with profound historical value. Our investment has had an extremely positive impact on the area, creating jobs for around 60 employees and collaborators and contributing to the livelihood of numerous families in the area.

This bond with the local area has grown stronger over time, thanks to the firm intention to follow in the footsteps of some of the great industrialists who have made Italy famous throughout the world. “Among the developments, we are most proud of is the recent acquisition of a former Olivetti factory, a transaction completed with the ambitious goal of restoring and enhancing an iconic site in Italian industrial history, where the famous Lettera 22 typewriter was produced”, says the founder of Hitherm. “The renovation of this site represents not only an economic investment, but also a cultural and social commitment: Hitherm intends to revive the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit that made Olivetti famous, creating a centre of industrial excellence in the pressfitting sector, with the aim of tripling production and restoring the local industrial sector to its former glory”.

Thus, in addition to the Agliè plant, which covers an area of approximately 15,000 square metres, Hitherm will be able to count on another important facility  of over 30,000 square metres, ready to add further prestige to an already established industrial model. “However, we are not limiting ourselves to growth in terms of numbers and turnover”, concludes Orso. “A significant portion of our profits is reinvested in continuous staff training and support for young talent. In line with the Olivetti spirit, which the company feels it embodies, Hitherm promotes numerous extra-curricular activities for the well-being and personal and professional growth of its employees. This focus on human resources and the local area is testament to a model of sustainable and responsible business development, capable of enhancing the history of Italian industry and the effectiveness of the best technologies currently on the market”.
