A trip to the United States to showcase an Italy that is changing, innovating and combining beauty with responsibility. Bruno Nardelli, CEO of Liu Jo Luxury, licensee of Liu Jo for watches and jewellery, has just returned from Washington, where he received the Italian Excellence Award at the National Press Club, an award given each year to entrepreneurs and professionals who promote the values of Made in Italy around the world. “Being awarded in Washington was a moment of great pride for me, not only personally but collectively,” says Nardelli. “Representing Italy in such a prestigious context means taking on a responsibility: defending the values of our companies and what they express in terms of creativity, style and vision.”

The award came at the end of a trip that saw the CEO engaged in a series of events dedicated to dialogue between business, scientific research and the Italian-American community. After receiving the award, Nardelli attended the Giovan Giacomo Giordano Medical Conference, organised by SHRO, Sbarro Health Research Organisation, and visited the laboratories directed by Professor Antonio Giordano, a symbol of Italian scientific excellence in the United States. Liu Jo Luxury has been collaborating with SHRO for some time on the ‘L’Orologio della Prevenzione’ project, an initiative that combines design and research with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of cancer prevention and raising funds for scientific research. “Our company believes in social responsibility,” explains Nardelli. “We support charity and research projects because doing business today also means giving back to the community. It is a commitment that is giving us a lot in terms of recognition but above all in terms of awareness.”

The trip ended with participation in the 50th anniversary of the NIAF, National Italian American Foundation. It was an opportunity to meet international leaders and entrepreneurs, but also to reflect on the new global challenges facing the fashion industry. “Liu Jo has been a sustainability-oriented company for years,” emphasises Nardelli. “The fashion world is one of the most environmentally impactful, but that cannot be an excuse. We must do our part, even with small gestures: reducing consumption, optimising energy, promoting smart working, creating a culture of responsibility inside and outside the company. This is a path that must also touch the production chain.”

Nardelli’s vision is clear and concrete: to build a business model that combines profit and value, quality and respect, aesthetics and social impact. “Today’s young people are much more attentive to traceability, certifications and the origin of materials,” says the CEO. “This is a driving force that compels us to evolve the way we do business.”

The watchword, therefore, remains the same as the one that started the journey: excellence. Not as a static concept, but as a constantly evolving goal. “The future of Liu Jo Luxury lies here,” concludes Nardelli. “Combining beauty with responsibility, tradition with innovation, to build lasting value.”
